May 19, 2016 – On Saturday, The Allman Brothers Band’s 68-year-old frontman received an honorary doctorate of humanities from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Will ol’ Gregg demand that people call him Doctor Allman from now on remains to be seen.

As seen from the video the 68-year-old Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and singer-songwriter looked quite nervous and periodically fiddled with his long blonde ponytail as Mercer’s president revealed he was only the third musician to receive the honor after Rolling Stones’ keyboardist Chuck Leavell and Macon native Richard Wayne Penniman (aka Little Richard) received their honorary degrees two years ago.
