Gregg Allman dead at 69

May 28, 2017The Allman Brothers Band founder Gregg Allman,  has died at his home in Savannah, Georgia. His cause of death wasn’t disclosed, but Allman struggled with many health issues over the past several years due his rocky past that involved decades of heroine, cocaine, and alcohol abuse.

In 2007, Allman was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and he underwent a liver transplant in 2010 which he attributed to a dirty tattoo needle. He also suffered from an atrial fibrillation.

In 2016, he was forced to cancel his summer tour due to unspecified “serious health problems.” Allman briefly returning to the stage  2016 Laid Back Festival in Atlanta, but that was his last live performance. His winter tour 2017 and rest of the summer gigs were canceled as well.

Allman is survived by his wife, Shannon Allman, his children, Devon, Elijah Blue, Delilah Island Kurtom and Layla Brooklyn Allman and three grandchildren.
