The Cheaters‘ Midnight Run is today’s brand of southern rock. With its soaring guitars and heavy metal edge the Cheaters move beyond the mold of classic southern rock and bring a combination of sounds that delivers the goods. Their sound emits the sparks of and fire of AC/DC`s early metal and the Southern rock of Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the much over looked band Hydra from the early to mid 70`s. All these roots sneak out the stinging slide guitars and soaring vocals.
Produced by Frank Marchand at Waterford Digital Studios Slide, Midnight Run features songwriting contributions from all the members. Album kicks off with hard rockin’ Fast Times and continues into the first single, Blow My Mind. My favorite song on the album has to be Justify; Jason Morton`s soulful, great singing, and slide guitar work by Brett Willmer is absolutely beautiful. Tasty harmonica in I Ain’t Comin Back lifts that track into one of the highlights on this album.
Here it is, Southern Metal Rock in all its glory fulfilling the desire of fans to hear a new sound but still show its roots, this is the Midnight Run by The Cheaters.
